REQUIRED WAYS TO POLITICS

REQUIRED  WAYS TO POLITICS

Narendra Modi is a complex compound of parochialism and modernity. But due to his strong parochial essence, his modernity is obscured. It is contended that he has consciously cherished his parochialism to register political mileage considering the feudal character of Indian society and voters. His glorification of myths and his attempts to galvanise fundamentalism of religion is his conscious efforts to win over the voters of the majority religion and thereby ensure his party's rule for eternity. On the other hand, his modern instincts propel him to work toward establishing modern technology like those of digitization of economy and modernization of production methods.
However, Mr Modi in this process fails to comprehend that the Indian society has a multilayer economy ranging from a tribal economy to a feudal economy to an industrial economy of the traditional type to some ultra-industrial economy which is made up of computer and AI technology. However, people engaged in modern economies have no corresponding world views. And Mr Modi doesn't know how to lead them to a shared goal of a national economy.
But on the other hand opposition parties are equally devoid of ideas. Opposition to Mr Modi for his parochialism is only one aspect of the struggle. Others include fights against his insane brutality, harsh patriarchism, shameless misogynist attitude and above all his crony capitalism. There is no doubt that any attempt to go back to socialism will cost heavily and so Socialists and Lohiaists have no place in modern India but at the same time, socialization of capitalism in which the government can have effective checks on the brutal market forces are the call of the hour. Opposition parties must come up with ideas and programmes for the economic progress of the masses. Only focussing on communalism is not enough to defeat Modism.
And opposition parties have also to expose Modi's brand of welfarism which project the government as a patriarch. Welfarism of the government is not philanthropy but it's a right of the people. However, welfarism must be directed to enhance the capability of the poor people and should not make them a permanently disabled class. This will hamper the progress of society as a whole. Similarly, gender-sensitive policies and awareness which should be in tune with the technology are urgently required. The opposition has to define politics as a tool to modernise and develop the nation with the elements of growth, justice, dignity and capacity building for all. The opposition parties must know politics with these interventions and must strive to appeal to the masses. The Opposition must learn to eliminate parochialism to filter modernity with dignity. Then only Modism can be defeated.
