WHY WE NEED INVESTMENT IN SOCIAL SECTOR
WHY WE NEED INVESTMENT IN SOCIAL SECTOR
Do you think an already beaten path can lead our economy to the goal of development ? If we leave China from our discussion because of its opacity on the front of veracity of data we can realize that the path we are adopting today has already created huge gaps in the economy of today's developed countries of North America and Western Europe where inequality has produced serious socio-economic and psychological problems. Our country has ready been witnessing increasing inequality and it's social consequences have been becoming more than evident.
Heavy investment in infrastructure , services and manufacturing are no doubt absolutely essential but it's fruits will never be tested by the country if comparable investment in social sector is not made. We should not forget that North America and Western Europe have very small population in comparison to ours and their societies are traditionally less stratified than ours . So inequality created in our country due to economic policies will have more serious and more complex consequences. Lack of comparable investment in social sector will produce a vast population with poor education and skill and with poor health. This coupled with traditional social stratification will bound to strengthen inequality not only in economic terms but also in social terms and a cocktail of social and economic inequalities will have poisonous impact on the health of the nation as a whole.
So we seriously and urgently need to have a more equitable economic policy which recognizes both social sector and individual's significance. If we voluntarily adopts the path of Western economic model without adopting the social policies for social protection, social security and educational and health improvement we may be in some catastrophic trap of mass inequality . Growth without development will produce a lame economy.
