A PROSPEROUS SOCIETY
1.
A PROSPEROUS
SOCIETY
Economic questions need to be
extended beyond those of employment and income and our economics is required to
address the whole gamut of economic activities starting from existing resources
to finally consumed ones and in between them there are issues related to
dignity , freedom, equity justice, security, social status and social
evaluation, social cohesion and interdependence, satisfaction and happiness .
We talk in terms of GDP and GNP, Per Capita income and Per Capita Consumption but these mean value data often
obscure the hardships that exist with covered inequality. So we need to talk in
absolute terms for each and every individual. Unless our economics does not
address each and every individual and his/her present and future that economics
will be unreal, delusional and deceptive.
Our economic system should have capacity
to adjust every one as a producer and as a consumer and too to the level of
potential of that individual. Everyone should be given opportunity to grow into
a balanced and skilled person irrespective of that individual's socho economic
background. And such a grown up individual should have chance to be utilized as
an economic person playing the role of producer and consumer both.
In doing so issues mentioned above like those of dignity,
freedom, equity, justice, security, social status and social evaluation, social
cohesion and interdependence, satisfaction and happiness of every individual
must be taken care of. When prosperity deals with these issues and when
prosperity transcends individuals to cover the larger society the economic
system finds it's relevance. A prosperous society is rich when every members
are prosperous without any
discrimination.
